The ignition cylinder where you put the key in just reads the chip code on the key...changing it will not affect the anti-theft system or need reprogramming. However, you will have to get a new key cut to the new ignition cylinder cuts that also matches the chip code on your original key. Changing the ignition switch is another matter and is not related to the ignition cylinder nor does it need reprogramming either.
