How can I fix this annoying electrical problem?

1998 Buick Regal GS. If only the electrics matched the bulletproof engine.

The driving lights (actually they should be parking lights) burn out frequently. Usually one

side where the bottom of bulb connector is melted, the socket goes bad as a result, then I'm

buying bulbs like milk, and a socket for every 5th bulb change. Then there is the ignition switch.

Great fun putting on my left turn signal one day, and the car died. Had to turn the key off and on

again multiple times to wait for the clicking sound that tells me the driving lights kicked on, then the car would start. I fixed this temporaily by messing w/the harness under the steering wheel and duct taped so it wouldn't wiggle and hold a continuous circuit. Is there a permanent fix to these issues, and what is the cause for the bulb failure so often on these W body cars like mine? Already relocated the fuel pump resistor. I'd like to thank the einstein who decided to mount it behind the passenger side front wheel. Ceramic when it gets hot and cold and hot and cold, cracks, thus resulting in a stalled car. Luckily I wasn't on a highway in the left lane in rush hour traffic when this

happened. This stuff is dangerous man!!! Thanks for input. How can I fix this annoying electrical problem?
u have an electrical short, a bare wire or two wires touching each other periodicaly, or touching metal when u hit a bump or like u said turn the signal on.probably in the steering column, tear it apart yourself is alot of work, but look under the steering wheel dash, maybe u willl get lucky and see it.a mechanic shop has the right tools to trace itHow can I fix this annoying electrical problem?
Perhaps you should see about an aftermarket lamp assembly. Lens and all.

See if there is a lower wattage bulb you can use too.

U gotta love those 'engineers'...How can I fix this annoying electrical problem?
Try rephrasing your question so it pops up under cars and transportation-maintenance and repair. I'm certain more mechanics browse that section. Right now it's under home and garden-maintenance and repair.
