The cylinder won't come out in run position, it comes out in off position. Use new cylinder for guide, push in spring retainer, pull out cylinder. The parts you describe ain't got a dawg in the fight. How do i change the ignition cylinder on my 1976 k5 blazer?
look in to the steering column ,where the lock goes in.follow the barrel of the cylinder housing toward the center of the column.just before the barrel ends there is a slot. The plastic lock tab goes into this slot.turn the key to the run position and push in that plastic tab and pull the ignition out.Sometimes that slot is covered with a thin layer of metal.tap with a smal screwdriver to knock it loose. How do i change the ignition cylinder on my 1976 k5 blazer?
with key in cylinder and in on position push both pins at same time and pull out on cylinder.
