How to change out ignition switch on 1984 F150 Ext cab truck?

I am somewhat mechanically challenged but have only the old truck to satisfy daily travel needs and get my six yearold to and from school. Ignition switch began sticking in %26quot;starter engage%26quot; position closely followed by current state: Insert key and rotate forward and the thing just keeps going forward never engaging starter and won't turn vehicle power off when moving back to %26quot;column lock%26quot; position. I just need to know the steps to remove old switch and replace with new one. Can NE one help me out please? Thanks KevinHow to change out ignition switch on 1984 F150 Ext cab truck?
Kevin, the ignition tumbler/key when rotated has a small rod that runs down the top of the column. The switch it self is down near your feet on top of the steering column. Check to make sure the switch is working properly. The tumbler/key assembly is a little more difficult to change. You have to remove, on most vehicles the steering wheel to gain access. Go on e-bay and find a service manual or go on line with auto-zone. You can join their tech service for cheap money to find the help you need. Good luck.
